The Shyira Washing station high in the Nyabihu District of Rwanda produces some of the most exceptional Rwandan coffees we've ever tasted at Mutual. Having been imported through our friends at Raw Material (via the Rwanda based Muraho Trading Co in the region) for several years now, we've had the pleasure of seeing quality improve time and time again after every harvest, a testament to the phenomenal work of the producers of this region.
Shyira was built in 2017 and since it's founding has been an invaluable resource to farmers in the area, as there are few processing stations for producers to access nearby. In 2020, Rwanda was hit with devastating landslides, destroying swathes of infrastructure. The team at Raw Material offered direct support through fundraising in the international coffee community to help efforts in rebuilding and repairing the damage. That communities have been able to rebuild and continue producing coffee at such an incredible standard over the following years is nothing short of a miracle, in our eyes. We're thrilled to be able to share this coffee and hope to keep supporting the producers of Nyabihu in their work.
