Izuba washing station has grown with its success over the years in Burundi's northern region of Kayanza. Providing a central station for the three surrounding hills of Mugoyi, Ryamukona and Kigeri, the volume of cherry from each hill is recorded by the station and processed separately to allow its unique character to shine through.
The station provides work for hundreds of workers throughout the year and can process up to 800,000kg of cherry from well over more than a thousand producers. Paying not only premiums to farmers but also seeing staff are paid 25% more than other processing stations and 33% higher than the national average, this commitment to people behind coffee and standard of ethics is exactly what we've come to know and appreciate with the coffees we find through our friends at Raw Material.
We're truly thrilled to have the opportunity to support Izuba's meaningful work and to showcase the phenomenal quality of their coffee.
